About This Game

Welcome to Pandemic Express - Zombie Escape! We've played a lot of Zombie Escape-style mods, and wanted to make something standalone, and on a large scale. Up to 30 players spawn in a large world. One of them gets randomly infected, and has to spread the infection turning everyone into zombies. The human players desperately try to escape on a train through an onslaught of what seems like endless zombie hordes.

Hi everyone!

I have a quick status update for you all. Today we tested the first iteration of the Friend Invite system and it wasn't stable enough for us to roll out to the main branch. There are a couple of server-side issues we need to fix first, so the team went to bed and will work on fixing the remaining issues tomorrow. We expect the feature to rollout within 24h.

Meanwhile I had a chat with the current #1 ranked Pandemic Express player - Twixted - and he was kind enough to allow me to share some of his gameplay highlights. You may have seen his gameplay stream on the Steam Page -- and if not, here's a clip we just posted on Youtube:

TLDR the guy is insane. We knew we had dynamic movement in the game, but the way he combines "rocket jump"-style mechanics with sliding and traverses through the map is beyond insane. The clip above has him face off against 29 zombies players.... and yes, he wins.

This makes me believe Pandemic Express has a bright future ahead, and I am happy you are all part of it

We’ve heard you loud and clear: bombers are too strong, human wins are too rare.

Instead of just nerfing the bombers, we’ll do you one better:

- Bombers have been removed for a rework
- Introducing a new class: Mimic!

These changes should tune down the oppressiveness of exploding zombies, making the game more fair for the humans.

New zombie class — mimic:
- Looks like a human
- Unlimited respawns
- Explodes by pressing Q
- Bombers have been removed for a rework
- Zombie model optimization
- Added new buildings
- Safe zone changes — sometimes weapons are spawned in the safe zones
- Central town rework
- Reduced the number of explosive barrels in the zombie nests, added low-tier weapons to the ground floors
- Reworked the area surrounding Station D
- Removed tagging humans in the water
- Party members now have a special tag

Pandemic Express is a "Zombie Escape" mod inspired open world shooter. A team of up to 50 humans spawns in a map, and one of them gets randomly infected. The infected (zombie) player needs to turn everyone to his team by attacking human players. Meanwhile the humans need to escape, by train.

Hey everyone!

Yesterday's zombie changes were quite an overkill. Our goal is to find a good balance — a state of the game where playing as a human and as a zombie is both fun and challenging.

The game is still very young, and we're working on finding that balance while adding new features to the game. Thank you for bearing with us!

This hotfix should make the game challenging for the humans once again, and in the meantime we will be closely monitoring win rates and other statistics, as well as working on overhauling the Bomber.

Here are the full patch notes:

- Mimic's explosion radius increased to 10 meters, critical hit radius— 5 meters
- Yellow/red explosion indicator is now correctly displayed for humans
- Added an interface indicator for the number of humans in Mimic's explosion radius
- Removed aiming indicator for humans aiming at a Mimic
- Mimic can now swallow a human while exploding
- Added EAC anticheat

Hi all and thanks for the wonderful reception in the first day of Pandemic Express!

While there are issues, I'm happy we were able to fix a critical lobby bug and for most of the rest there's a clear plan on fixes. The only issue we don't fully know how to solve yet is Chinese players reporting crashes on startup when the system is in simplified Chinese -- figuring that one out.

Tomorrow we will be playtesting an important server and client update (featuring the first iteration of the friend invite system). This will require a few people to play together, and groups of Steam friends to stress test the system.

In order to make the best of the playtest, we invite everyone to join.
