You had your wallet full at the start of the month but before you know it you have spent it all just during a single visit to nearest grocery store. Even though buying groceries is an integral part of life how come it upsets you and your budget even when you try to save more than before!

This is the problem faced in every other household. While you may be trying to cut up expenses for a new car or a trip abroad your grocery list just gets bigger and bigger every time you go shopping. You cannot abandon eating and cooking altogether and we wouldn’t ask you to either but you can shop smartly! Here are a few tips that can help you stay in budget when you go grocery shopping the next time.

1.Check for discounts

Sales and discounts are a human’s best friend! Whether it is a weekend sale, a holiday discount or any special event you need to plan your shopping spree around that. Keep your phone charged and your emails updated with all the latest deals and discounts from your favorite store. In this way you can shop what you want without spending much!
You can also use various discount deals and promo codes on famous stores. Since these stores are popular among people they often introduce huge deals and saving coupons. Don’t forget to check coupons for Target, Kohl’s and Walmart. Besides you can also use the popular Kohl’s 30 off coupon whenever you go grocery shopping!

2.Don’t go for brands only

You may be used by a specific cereal or sugar brand, but generic alternatives are typically cheaper. Generic brands, with their own logos on them, also use name-brand items and sell them at a cheaper price. To be sure you get the same stuff, just check the ingredients.

3.Browse through the store

It is a shocking fact that eye level shelves have the priciest items. Let’s not forget that the store owners are in look for making huge profits, even though they have diverse products they would always love for the expensive ones to be sold more.
So before you make your purchase browse up and down for different brands. Chances are you could get what you need for lower price.

4.Be ready to visit Farmer’s Market

If fresh fruits and vegetables are a staple of your diet (they should be!), then you know how your grocery bills will actually add up. Skipping the processing segment and going instead to the market of your local farmers is a perfect way to get the produce you need. The author of The Happy Cookbook, Lola Berry, says farmers' markets are a cheaper way of having the freshest produce. "Plus, you're supporting the local economy!" she reminds us.

5.Buy More, Save More

This one may not sound like you're saving money for the moment, but buying in bulk is technically much cheaper. For their high prices, stores like Whole Foods are infamous, but their bulk section is shockingly inexpensive and full of delicious variety. On items such as nuts, dried fruit and seeds, stock up. Since you're going to buy large amounts, buying food that will last a while is crucial.
Besides if you buy in bulk, you won’t be short of items every other day so the extra trips to grocery store will be saved!
