About This Game

Originally released as a PSP exclusive, Ys SEVEN was the first fully 3D Ys title, the first Ys title to include a party-based battle system allowing players to swap control of characters in real-time, and the most story-heavy Ys game of its time.

This original PC port presents the game in full upscaled HD with a wide variety of resolution options, smooth 60 fps gameplay, full Steamworks integration featuring a variety of new achievements, and even a revised localization to ensure players receive the most immersive gaming experience possible.

Join redheaded adventurer Adol Christin and his loyal companion, Dogi, as they make good use of their pirate connections from adventures past to weigh anchor in the bustling port city of Altago – a former world trading capital that was cut off from foreign visitation for far too long by an all-too-recently ended war with the Romun empire.

The people of Altago are still distrustful of foreigners, and the land is crawling with monstrous creatures who are invulnerable to standard steel, rendering Adol’s tried and true arsenal of weapons from games past ineffective. Forced to rearm and retrain from scratch – and to prove his worth to this new country’s somewhat xenophobic populace – Adol takes up a king’s quest to explore a nearby set of ruins, only to find himself embroiled in a high-stakes game of appeasing ancient dragons and saving the world… yet again.

Along the way, he’ll meet a variety of companions old and new who will join him in his quest via the newly introduced party system, wherein up to three characters may be controlled at any one time. Only by mastering the use of pierce, slash, and thrust attacks, as well as dozens of unique skills, quick dodging, “flash guarding,” and more can Adol and his team uncover the mystery of the Five Great Dragons, the five ancient tribes of Altago, and the recent string of earthquakes that threaten to tear apart this ancient and storied land.

As I beaten this game via PS Vita, this JRPG has good things about it's OST's (Vacant Interference, epic track btw), combat, and grinding. Combat is great, especially boss fights since bosses actually fight like bosses. Grinding, the player's most hated time-consuming chore, isn't all that bad since you could beat it with just the minimum required gear, minimum skill levels, and crafting items that reduce the grind time along with listening to the epic ost's the player can enjoy.. This is my favorite Ys game so far (haven't played MoC or VIII yet) and a fantastic game in general. All the typical pillars of a Ys game are present (action, music, fast paced play and funny moments) as well as new aspects like a more engrossing story and a bigger cast of enjoyable characters. As with any Ys game, the boss fights are a treat and rarely feel unfair when utilizing patience, flash guarding, dodging, the occassional health item and more patience!

There are a vast array of enemies to fight, items to collect and abilities to play around with. There is some backtracking (some forced, some not), but as far as I'm concerned, it nets needed resources anyway. The A.I. is generally pretty competent, except for the times (usually boss fights) where they just don't attack if Adol isn't engaged with the enemy as well. The game plays like butter at 60 FPS and generally looks servicable for its age (except for some textures such as the harbor, *shudder*). Dialog in the various towns also updates as you progress through the story, so feel free to waste an hour or two (or more!) just chatting up the townsfolk.

Overall, this is a very well done game. With 4 different difficulties, just about anyone can come in and be challenged at an appropriate level. I easily recommend this to any fans of Ys or anyone that enjoys fast paced action RPGs.. Blood pumping hardcore ARPG with a godlike OST. What else?. Funner'N'Hell. Brief:
I love the story very much... but pathetically... i conclude with following advice
"to make a good version of pc you should redesign the things(control, resolution) instead of simple put all the things of psp to pc version. otherwise thou will only ruin this good game"

Story:
Very good, i have played psp version of the game and enjoy the story very much so i decided to play it in pc again when i first heard it will rereleased to pc which is my favorite platform

Sadly and pathetically, i feel very sad when i receive this... i want to enjoy it again... i love the story which is quite meaningful the girl is so good and sacrifice herself to let the world to relearn good values ... however i cannot play to enjoy the story again... see below points

Control:
"using keyboard instead of mouse control for main character movement? it is quite strange in the platform of PC"

The game was quite bad using PC controls although the story is good, I would say YS6, YSF, YSO 's control is better than this YS7

I really hope YS8's control is based on PC, not a portable devices otherwise i will be quite sad to leave the series...

Resolution:
the ships in the begin segment of the port makes me this version is poorly ported to pc...

beside i also want to say again to make this version a successful one you should have "no excuse of making a better resolution for the pc" edition instead of putting psp resolution to the pc

however, i know the benefit is not that much by just porting the games, so i will say
It is acceptable to have low resolution, but the control is awkward and unacceptable.

Conclusion:
what a waste to a good title ... poorly ported to pc... is my conclusion this version of this game
at least improve the control for pc so we will have a reason to replay this on pc.

i just hope one thing... they can make YS8 better, at least to give us the experience from older pc series.. This game has very good story. The story line is unexpected. I cried watching the ending ... T_T. Ys SEVEN, ys game with party system, Adol + 6 companion.

A long game compared to other in series, so the story is more developed too ^^
Music is great as always ^^. Ys Seven is a good solid entry in the Ys series, though I would recommend Ys VIII or Memories of Celceta over it, as they essentially take the Ys Seven template and improve on it.. Only one session in, and already enjoying this one. Plays a bit similarly to Origin/OiF/AoN, but now with a party that you can switch between on the fly. Of course I miss the godess twins not being in this one (so far), different continenet and all that, but it's a Y's game alright, and I'm enjoying it like I did the others. Though I probably shouldn't have started with nightmare mode.
