Why Anxiety About Your Online MLM Business is a Good Thing

They make fabulous drugs out there for anxiety, and lots of people take them. Why? Because anxiety generally gets in the way of the good things in life, like being happy or avoiding gray hair. Anxiety is bad, happiness is good. Can you say Valium?

But a little anxiety is actually a good thing if you are just getting started in your online MLM business, or if you are trying some new online techniques. Anxiety can be a sign that you are getting out of your comfort zone and reaching out to prospects in new ways.

I don't mean you should be drenched in sweat all the time or have heart palpitations, but according to author David Krueger, M.D., small doses of anxiety can be read as signs of positive forward movement. He says:

"Read present anxiety or uncertainty as an understandable signpost of moving ahead without familiar landmarks in a new experience. This juncture can be read as evidence not to proceed, as intuition of a wrong choice-or as a signpost of change and progress."

In other words, when you try something new, like marketing your MLM business online, you don't have any familiar landmarks to guide you and tell you that you are doing the right thing. A little worry is normal. It's actually a good thing because it tells you that you are not stuck in rut.

Two Steps to Help Alleviate Your Anxiety

Having said all that, anxiety can also be very uncomfortable. Here are two steps you can take to alleviate your anxiety about your online MLM business.

1. Follow an Online Mentor

Wandering around in the internet wasteland all by yourself can be lonesome and scary, and actually not necessary. There's no need to be an online MLM pioneer because plenty of people have already developed online marketing techniques that have been proven successful. To alleviate your anxiety about online MLM marketing, find someone who is marketing online in a way you really like, and then do what they do.

For instance, one of my mentors is Michael Lemm, author of a top MLM blog called Best MLM Resources. I feel better when I do what Michael does because I know it really works for him. His successful track record relieves my anxiety and reassures me that I'm not just spinning my wheels.

2. Set Up a Trial Period

For instance, if your long-term goal is to dominate your online niche, you may need to put in consistent effort over several years. But don't start with that as your initial goal. Instead, set up a trial period to find out whether online MLM marketing is the right way for you to prospect.

Commit to blogging and submitting articles 3 times per week for 90 days. During your trial period, don't worry about whether "it's working." Instead, focus on learning how to blog and write articles. Spend that time discovering your online voice, finding subjects you like to write about, and learning the mechanics of working online. Enjoy the 90 days and keep reminding yourself that online MLM marketing is still an experiment for you. If you absolutely hate it at the end of 90 days, you can quit! That should take the pressure off!
