Isn't color a bitch to get right? Thank God it's only hair and it grows back!
I definitely wouldn't try to do anything more than temporary color myself. The formulas salons use are just so much better and stronger than you can buy OTC. Right now, you might want to try a temporary light brown to tone down the red.
Ask friends where they get their color done. Approach strangers on the street (I've actually done this, and the person was flattered, led to a great conversation!) Find the best colorist in town, who may not even be the best stylist, or in the fanciest salon!
Then, remember, that everyone's Hair takes Color differently, based on texture, treatments, etc.
I really like the way it looks now, but I like red tones.
Disclaimer: I'm not a stylist, I just ask a lot of questions when I'm getting my hair done!
