We appreciate that we are not the only makers of shepherd’s huts in the world, nor are we the least expensive, but we also know how much time, effort and attention to detail we put into each one. Build Quality and technical information
Our “family” of cast iron wheels (4 sizes available) are cast from our own patterns in 2 family run foundries in the Midlands.

Our rolling and turntable chassis’ are made by our local, father and son, blacksmith in the neighbouring village of Crick and are of a heavy duty construction using the finest steel!

We use planed all round CLS (Canadian Lumber Standard) timber to make the frame of the hut, which is clad in exterior ply, a breathable membrane and then corrugated iron – painted to the colour of your choice.

The interior skin consists of a vapour barrier and then tongue and groove pine, through the length of the ceiling and to either half or full wall height.

All our huts are fully insulated using either Earth wool (standard) or sheep’s wool insulation (optional extra).

Our doors and windows are all made locally and specifically for our shepherd’s huts, using ONLY hardwood – either Sapele, Idigbo or Oak (unfortunately Oak is at extra cost) – for durability and strength.

Our beautiful curved roof beams are carved from solid tulip wood (Canadian Poplar) and with a smooth and attractive finish, really give your hut that “WOW” factor!

The old style fittings used on the doors and windows help retains that “old world” charm, whilst providing strength, security and peace of mind.

If you choose to have a stove we will always install heat deflectors, in the form of Vermiculite Boards, on the walls and use a fully compliant flue kit. We also include under floor ventilation, as standard.

For electrical connections into your hut, we use a simple “commando” fitting and power is distributed via a fused consumer unit (see pictures). The second fix is always undertaken by a qualified electrician so that your hut is delivered with a full Electrical Compliance Certificate.
