When McGee gets to the hospital, he is intercepted in the lobby by retired Parks Police Officer Morgan Cade, who directs McGee to where Delilah is being attended to by an emergency obstetrician.
I've actually enjoyed a lot of the latest NCIS season, contrary to many people who seem to find not a single redeeming quality in it. I loved "Fake it Til You Make It" and "Burden of Proof", but the quality seems to be slowly spiralling down.

First of all, the performances were fine. Everyone does a good job as their respective character. The problem here is the script. Gibbs is missing his usual traits that make him a total Clint Eastwood like badass. The same problem was encountered last year, but it was solved. McGee... what happened. I understand his main preoccupation is the baby he's having, but his lines are extremely melodramatic and ruin the banter the team has in the bullpen. I used to always love the banter between McGee / DiNozzo / Ziva or Bishop. Bishop's lines are also really cringeworthy, I feel like her character isn't going anywhere. Torres is really not funny anymore. Last season, I found his lines pretty awesome, but now, it's just really repetitive and cringeworthy. I also feel like his character isn't going anywhere. Jack, the new character has proved to be a good character in quite a few episodes, but here, her character seems bland and you're not at all invested in the revenge she seeks for Nigel's death. As for Duck : WHAT LINES? Duck spoke about 2 lines. That's it. His character was sidelined earlier but now he's back so give him some lines! The best are Jimmy and Clay, whose characters seem on point although we don't see nearly enough of both.

Now for the story : it's not that bad. People are trashing it, saying it's filled with plot holes which is true. The problem lies with the tension. Jack talks about how dangerous, violent and unpredictable this criminal is, yet there's no tension. Part of this is due to the plot holes but it's also due to Andre not being menacing. I actually quite enjoyed the part of the story involving Morgan. I thought it was really a touching moment when he died in McGee's hands.

All in all, was the hate for this episode justified? Yes, it is, because this was a pretty bland episode for such an important moment in McGee's life. It wasn't flat out terrible in my opinion, but the show's quality is definitely declining. Was this the best hostage episode we have ever seen on TV? No, of course not and I am glad we are finally through with most of the Tim and Delilah stuff what with the wedding and the baby now born, but outside of that this was still an enjoyable episode. It gave us action and suspense something that the show does not regularly give to us.
