South Australia Skilled Migration Program– 190 & 491 Visa

From July 2021, South Australia officially opened its migration program for the year 2021-2022. The state will now start accepting applications for both subclass 190 and 491. South Australia skilled occupation list has also highlighted occupations that are currently in demand. For the year 2021-22, South Australia has allocated a total of 2,600 places for 190 and 491 visa, which is over 600 places than the previous year. It means that there will be more chances for foreign skilled professionals to apply for Australia PR visa under this pathway.

The state nomination requirement in South Australia is quite complicated and often confusing. There are several streams under which interested candidates can apply for a state nomination from the south Australian government. However, they must fulfil the basic eligibility criteria to apply for the program.

Basic South Australia State Nomination Requirements

• You must be under 45 years at the time of nomination

• Your nominated occupation must be on the skilled occupation list

• You must have a valid assessment for your nominated occupation

• You must display competent English language skills

• You must score at least 65 points in the SkillSelect for Australia immigration

Application Process

Expression of Interest

Submit an EOI via SkillSelect platform. While doing so, select South Australia as your preferred destination.

Apply for Nomination

After submitting an EOI, you must apply for a state nomination via the South Australian government website.

Apply for the visa

If everything goes well and you successfully receive the nomination, apply for a visa from the Department of Home Affairs’ website.
The Australia PR process after receiving an ITA must be done within 60 days of obtaining it.
