Farmer’s Inn — the historic Millstadt landmark — is open for business again.
This time the building http://www.authenticsaintsshop.com/shop-by-players-jamarca-sanford-... surrounded by cornfields has reopened as a restaurant and bar with a Southern vibe.
Brandon Carrillo, co-owner and manager, said the bar, 7157 Illinois 158, will be open six days a week.
The stately, two-story brick building was built in 1896 and has been home to a dance hall, saloon, general store and multiple restaurants, including a Mariachi’s Mexican restaurant that was partly owned by Carrillo’s father, Edgar Carrillo, but closed several years ago.
Closed Monday, Farmer’s Inn will open at 11 a.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The bar will open at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and http://www.authenticsteelersshop.com/shop-by-players-hines-ward-jer... Thursday.
“We’re really excited to start a new chapter in the Farmer’s Inn building,” Carrillo said Friday.
The building has received major updates, which include new windows and a new roof.
The bar’s menu features classic bar favorites, such as burgers, wings and beer-battered onion rings. Carillo is also serving signature salads. The Asian Yellowfin Tuna Salad is topped with an Asian vinaigrette, wasabi aioli, Sriracha and crispy flash-fried wonton strips.
At the bar, Carillo recommends a Moscow mule. The cocktail ($4) is made with vodka, spicy ginger beer, and lime juice.
“People have a certain emotional attachment to this building,” Carrillo said in April before the opened. “They want to be back inside this Joe Gilliam Jersey building. A lot of people grew up coming here. They remember being here as kids, and their grandparents have a lot of stories.”
