Red coral is an organic gemstone that formed over thousands of years under the sea. Remnants of red coral have been found in Neolithic tombs in Switzerland that date back to almost 8,000 BC. In Greek mythology, red coral is said to have formed from the blood of Medusa’s head after Perseus decapitated her.
