The special feature in the consecration of the temple is done by Lord Rama himself and so the name of the Ramaeshwaram. This temple is the most venerated and most visited temple in the shrines of Lord Shiva. This also comes under the twelve Jyotirlinga dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple also as its association with the legendary victory over Ravana, the king of demon by Lord Rama that as its mention in Ramayana. This temple is as significant like Bhimashankar, Trimbakeshwar, Mahakaleshwar and several others. You can be shocked after reading that the Rameshwaram temple as approximately 4000 feet huge pillars and corridors and this are considered to be the longest in the world. The granite engraved pillars are mounted on a raised platform. The embellished illustration of Nandi is about 18 feet in height and 22 feet in length. Your experience of visiting this ancient temple will surely be stunning. Reaching the Rameshwaram temple is not a big deal as it is connected to all major cities like Chennai, Thanjavur, Madurai, Trichy, Coimbatore and many others.
