OTA observations: Rookie WR Kenny Golladay shines again for Lions

ALLEN PARK -- The Detroit Lions opened http://www.billsonlineofficial.com/shop-by-players-kyle-williams-je... another OTA session to reporters. Here are some observations from Wednesday's practice in a sun-splashed but gusty Allen Park.
-- For the second straight week, no rookie caught my eye more than Kenny Golladay. I didn't think Detroit was all that sharp during red zone drills, but Golladay consistently came up with the ball, including once on a one-handed grab in the corner of the end zone -- and he did it through pass interference from Johnson Bademosi. Oh, and for the second straight week, I did not see him put the ball on the ground.
-- Jake Rudock talked last week about how he feels he has a little more pepper on his throws after spending a season in the team's strength program. On Wednesday, we saw what he was talking about when he zipped a TD pass to Golladay during red-zone drills. It wasn't exactly Stafford-esque, but the thing was http://www.cheappatriotssale.com/shop-by-players-devin-mccourty-jer... on a rope, and wouldn't have been gotten through the teeth of the defense otherwise.
-- One more note on the receivers: Jim Caldwell mentioned Ryan Spadola's name during rookie minicamp. That's not exactly out of the ordinary -- ask about who looks good at a position, and he's more likely than not to run through every name there. He doesn't like to publicly pick favorites. But then Spadola made a couple nice catches last week, then burned Des Lawrence for another bomb this week. That's a crowded room, so I have no idea what his chances are for making the team. But he's definitely not hurting himself during OTAs, that's for sure.
-- Rookie corner Jamal Agnew returned to practice after missing last week's session that was open to reporters. He's got a lot of competition to contribute on defense this year -- he's pigeon-holed as a nickel, where Quandre Diggs and D.J. Hayden also play -- but could be in the competition to replace Andre Roberts at return man. Agnew was among a group of players shagging kicks Wednesday, along Isa Abdul-Quddus Kids Jersey with TJ Jones, Jace Billingsley and Dwayne Washington.
- With Ezekiel Ansah out, Anthony Zettel and Cornelius Washington both got in some first-team work at defensive end. Kerry Hyder was the other end, with A'Shawn Robinson and Akeem Spence on the inside.
-- Rookie corner Teez Tabor was much more active this week than last week, including participating in some team drills. He repped mostly with Johnson Bademosi on the second team.
-- Theo Riddick was held out again, but he was getting in some sprints on the side with a trainer. He declined to provide specifics about his recovery after practice -- with Riley Reiff out, Riddick just might be the player who says the least to reporters -- but that sidework is always a good indication that a player is nearing a return. Given that it's still only May, there's no reason to fret about his status heading into the season.
-- Darren Fells is the new blocking tight end, but Caldwell has mentioned a couple times he thinks Fells has the versatility to contribute in the passing game. He dropped a would-be touchdown pass Wednesday, though, with the ball glancing off both hands in the right corner of the end zone. It wasn't the sharpest day for Cyrus Kouandjio Jersey the tight ends overall, with Eric Ebron dropping another pass, and this time, Michael Roberts too.
