He-Man is the legendary "Most Powerful in the Universe" and the mighty warrior of the planet Eternia and defender of the mysterious Castle Greyskull. With his special powers and with his weapon, The Sword of Greyskull, He-Man fought the evil Skeletor who bid to rule Eternia and discover the secrets of Greyskull. He-Man has been summoned to the planet "Primus", a world under threat from a band of evil mutants from the nearby planet "Denebria". But Skeletor has joined forces with the mutants in his goal of universal conquest. With help from his new companions: The Galactic Guardians, a loyal squadron of soldiers led by Captain Hydron and Lt. Flipshot, Teenage girl Drissi and her brother Caz and Darius, head of the galactic council. He-Man sets out to defend Primus from Skeletor and the mutants.
Deplorable. Ridiculous. Not even sub-standard fun. The anime style is annoying. The queen of Eternia has blue hair? Why is Prince Adam dressed like a shepherd? And as Prince Adam- the voice is SO gay. The lisps are unmistakable. No, being gay is not the problem. I'm gay but prefer Prince Adam/He-Man to be masculine, bold and strong. He is suppose to be the almighty defender after all. And Skeletor- yelch. NOT scary, not frightening. Why is his face green? And why did they have to change the chant that turns Adam into He-Man? "By the power of Eternia"? Um...it's "By the power of Grayskull" people!! You cannot make a Batman movie or cartoon and take him out of Gotham. Superman will always be in Metropolis. You CANNOT go changing a characters legacy just because you want to. BAD producers.

Other reviews on the net have said the show can stand on its own. Um...NO it cannot. It's a pathetic attempt to breath new life into a classic story that was in no need of CPR. Guess the old saying is true- if it ain't broke, don't fix it. For me this will be like the film Halloween 3. I will forget it ever happened.

BAD producers!!! Shame!!! Sequel to the 1980s Filmmation He-Man finds He-Man/Prince Adam (He-Man voiced by Gary Chalk, who later voiced Man-At-Arms on the 2002 He-Man series, Adam voiced by Doug Parker, as opposed to the 1980s and 2002 versions where He-Man/Adam was voiced by the same actor, John Erwin and Cam Clarke respectively) being flung into the future to defend the planet Primus from the evil mutants; his old enemy, Skeletor, comes along for the ride and joins forces with the Mutants. New friends, new foes, the battle of Good VS. Evil continues.

I admit when I saw this again on DVD after having not seen it for years it wasn't as bad as I remembered it being. Certainly the opening into had good music and there was some great animation (that is when the animators actually had enough time to go a good job, as some episodes look rushed), some of the episodes were actually genuinely entertaining, in addition to attempts to give it more of a forward going story arc. The biggest gripe? Well, it just doesn't look or feel like the He-Man we know and love. Writer Laurence "Larry" DiTillio, who wrote for both the 1980s He-Man and 2002 He-Man, apparently agreed and thus decided not to write for this series (although Michael Reaves wrote for all three series). One of my friends actually described this version of He-Man as looking like a pirate while Adam looks like a Roman shepherd peasant, but hey, at least they actually looked different, thus adding to the idea of a "disguise".

Still, worth a look for die hards.
He-Man/Prince Adam leaves Eternia and travels through time to the future to the peaceful planet Primus. To aid the human inhabitants of that world, that are under threat by evil mutants led by Flogg, which Skeletor, whom has also travelled through time to the future, has joined forces with, so he can destroy He-Man once and for all. Flipshot and Hydron arrive on Eternia in a time vessel. Skeletor's henchmen capture Flipshot and Hydron. But, Skeletor pretends to be the chosen one they are looking for and orders their release. He-Man turns up and fights Skeletor. Confused and unsure which is good and which is evil. Flipshot and Hydron bring both He-Man and Skeletor back to Primus in the future. Yes. Battle Beyond the Stars is about a farmboy who leaves his peaceful planet, as he is sent by the planet's elderly ruler to find mercenaries and warriors to help defend his world from an armada of evil invaders. Master Sebrian, the wise man on Primus, sends Flipshot and Hydron to Eternia in the past, to find a great warrior to aid the peaceful world of Primus and deal with Flogg and his mutants that threatens their world. That great warrior is He-Man/Prince Adam. No. There is no mention of She-Ra/Adora in the cartoon and she does not appear. To update the mythology of He-Man by taking him away from his barbaric origins. Science had been a recurring theme in the Filmation series "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" No. Garry Chalk modelled He-Man's voice after Dolph Lundgren, who played He-Man in the 1987 film Masters of the Universe and Campbell Lane modelled Skeletor's voice after Jack Nicholson. Yes. Skeletor was modeled after Tim Curry. King Randor and Queen Marlena appear in 1 episode. The Sorceress also appears and Teela later appears, as she is sent to Primus in the future to help He-Man.
