Currently, the issue of dental implant tooth is very controversial. Maybe, you also hear different news about this topic and you are thinking whether it is okay or not to place implants. Yes, surely you will do well. The dental implant is the best and most modern method to replace the missing natural teeth.

What is a dental implant?

The one tooth implant is an artificial tooth root, in other words, it is a titanium screw that is inserted into the bone of the jaw.

Dental implants have a cylindrical or conical shape, with a length and a diameter selected according to the amount of the bone.

There are a number of contraindications for dental implantology. For this reason, before making this type of intervention, the doctor must be informed of all the patient's health problems. If the patient is not sure, it is best to perform all the necessary analyzes and ensure that there are no health problems and also to see what types of tooth replacement options exist in the case of detection of any contraindications. It is also very important to inform your doctor about allergies to anaesthesia or other medications.

The process of placement of the dental implant

There are several techniques to place dental implants:

*          Classical (surgical) - this technique is performed by cutting the gum, in the case in which the tooth was already extracted for a long time.

*          Transmucosal implantology, also called flapless or flapless, is based on the placement of the dental implant without the need to cut the gum.

*          Immediate post-extraction dental implantology - this procedure involves the ability to place the implant in the same session when the tooth is extracted. And dental implant recovery is fast in this case.

However, whichever method you choose, the dental implant is not painful and is performed under local anaesthesia. The work is not difficult and lasts a short time, but, to have fixed teeth, the patient must wait from a few days to 6 months, depending on the type of dental implant.

Types of dental implants

Immediate loading dental implant (1 phase)

The dental implant in one phase is used to avoid the second phase of the implant: that is, not to open the gum and insert the abutment. The dental implant immediately loaded is inserted immediately into the alveolus. For this, there should be no infection, but this does not happen very often.

Dental implant in 2 phases

The intervention with these types of dental implants involves 2 phases. In the first stage, the implant that must be integrated with the bone is introduced. Therefore, in order to continue with the second phase of treatment, 3-4 months should pass after surgery for the lower jaw and 5-6 months for the upper jaw.

In the second phase of the treatment, the stump (the abutment) is screwed onto the upper part of the implant and then the permanent crown is cemented over it.
