Post videos consistently and content should be of high quality. I recently crossed 1000 subscribers mark on my YouTube channel Tech Mirages and I would say you to follow these basic rules out of my experience and it works.

As we are growing channels and want to gain subscribers, make videos what people are searching. Use YouTube search bar to know what people are searching and make videos on those topics.
Make sure you follow YouTube SEO, so that your videos gets to the top of search results.
Make attractive thumbnail and it should be relevant to the video.
Ask your viewers to subscribe to your channel and show them how to subscribe also.
These are the things which I follow and I'm gaining subscribers consistently.
