Internet Online Romance Ebooks - Makes a Lot of Sense Really, Let's Talk

Not everyone reads romance books, but for those who do, they sure read a lot of them. In fact, most of these romance novels are just one-night reads, Free Reading Fantasy Novel Website and generally between 75 and 130 pages. And yet, when you think about it - for something that's only going to be read one time in one-night, and then donated to the goodwill, or thrown away, or stuck on a bookshelf until all the pages rot, it seems like a rather inefficient process.Okay so, in considering all this it makes sense that romance novels, or novellas are the perfect genre to be sold as e-books. Of course, that's rather obvious isn't it, and I shouldn't be surprised that I'm not the only one who believes this.

There was indeed an interesting article recently in the Wall Street Journal by Jeffrey A. Trachtenberg titled "Amazing to Publish New Line of Romances" published on May 5, 2011 made some interesting points, and then again, I'd like to make some more on top of those if I might, but first why not go and read that article and then come back to this article and let's talk, okay - deal? The article stated that the VP of Amazon stated; "eventually we'd like to publish books in other genres, including thrillers, mysteries, and science fiction" - well, those also make sense, and as an author, I personally love the concept and would love to contribute some of my own science fiction short stories or novellas to the program perhaps.

Many science fiction stories are also very few pages. Perhaps Isaac Asimov who wrote over 200 books started that. A good many of his books are under 150 pages, and most are under 250. The gentleman was an excellent author, and seldom repeated himself, so he was able to pack in information into a tight format. It does seem that there is a resurgence of shorter works being sold on Barnes & Noble (dot) com, and Amazon (dot) com lately.

Often these works are only $.99 and therefore lots of digital copies are sold. The question is can Amazon sell such books for $2.99 or $3.99 because if they can, and they can sell them like hotcakes, it makes sense that they should go forth with this plan. In fact, it could be considered brilliant marketing and branding to do this. Think if you will about how many screenplays never get made into movies, but could easily fit into these categories.

This might be a chance for a new upcoming author or prolific writer to get started. Perhaps get an audience, and join a team of writers working with Amazon in the hopes of making a name for themselves. There is one other consideration that occurred to me on this topic of discussion and that is this; soon there will be artificially intelligent computers creating stories, mixing up names of characters and various endings and conflicts, which will produce fictional works. And even if it's not perfect, it might surely be worth $.99 to the reader, and a whole Lot of profits for the seller, as there will be no human author or writer to pay, or who could compete.
