Gone are the days of having to send a letter giving it a week of delivery time and waiting patiently for another two weeks to receive a response. At my first workplace, I implemented an online payroll system that allows users to view their payroll at their convenience, search for old payroll, submit their time cards and print only the details they need. These files must then be manually cleaned up at the recipient's end, causing delays and misplacement of some files.

I have also seen the working wonders of the intranet in many organizations. If properly managed, an intranet can hold all the information a company wants to share with its employees. Suppose that the general manager wants to send the memo to the entire organization, instead of fixing the printed information on a physical bulletin board, but can post it on the intranet and have all employees read the information with a single mouse click.

Other types of information, such as sales goals, company performance, evaluation goals, company product information, phone books, photo galleries for various events, and any other information that anyone wants to share, can be posted on the intranet.

Information technology has undoubtedly changed the way business is conducted and has achieved smooth business operations.
