Industrial sensors are a key factor in testing the integrity of a country's industrial system. Industrial sensors are not only demanding in terms of performance indicators, they are also very diverse. Functionally, industrial sensors are divided into different categories such as photoelectric, thermal, gas-sensitive and acoustic. Compared to civil applications, industrial environments place higher demands on sensors in terms of stability, accuracy, operational safety and many other considerations. Compared to civil applications such as consumer electronics, industrial sensors for intelligent manufacturing place more demanding requirements on accuracy, stability, vibration and shock resistance.
To ensure zero errors in industrial control, sensors must not only be able to communicate in real time, but also be accurate enough. The temperature, humidity, acidity and alkalinity to which the sensors are applied in different industrial sectors also have different individual requirements, and power consumption and size can be severely restricted, with extreme environments of, for example, -60°C being a great challenge.
In the field of sensor applications for smart manufacturing, there is a very wide gap between different industries. For process industries such as petrochemicals, there are fewer new high-end industrial sensors to be used. Certain special components required for smart manufacturing, such as sensors that need to be resistant to high temperatures and pressures, should improve the reliability and stability of the products.
At the same time, sensor manufacturing cannot be limited to the production of the sensors themselves. For hardware, the application software for industrial sensors is equally important. For the time being, it is more operational to focus on the overall layout of the industrial ecology.
