How to Move Authenticator Account to a New iPhone Device

A lot of people who have recently switched to iPhone from Android are facing trouble using Google’s Authenticator application to receive verification code. Well, Google Authenticator account is something that doesn’t get utilized on Apple devices a lot, but it is important for those people who are using it for a long time. Luckily, transferring the Authenticator to an iPhone device is not too difficult.

Once a user installs the Google Authenticator application on their iPhone device, it appears completely blank with no verification codes. However, this doesn’t mean the user has lost all of their previous, but Google has made it easy for users to transfer their Authenticator account. If the user has their old device, they can move the Authenticator account including all added apps.

How to Move Google Authenticator Account to a New iPhone

The important thing every user must remember that they can only recover or move their Authenticator account if they still have their old Android or iOS device. If anyone has a computer, they should follow the steps on it for a quick process.

Open the Google 2-Step Verification page on the web browser.
Press the Get Started option.
Now type Google account login information which is registered on the Authenticator application.
Press Next.
In the following tab, the Authenticator app column will appear.
Press the Change Phone option to proceed further.
Now choose the iPhone option.
Press Next.
On the Screen, a QR code will appear.
Open the Authenticator application to scan the QR code.
Open the Google Authenticator application on iPhone.
Press + icon.
Choose Scan a QR code and use the camera to scan the barcode appearing on the computer’s screen.
Now, enter a 6-digit verification code that appeared on the Authenticator app.
Press Verify.
So that’s it for now. Follow these steps properly and the Authenticator account will move to the new iPhone device.

Once the Authenticator account gets activated on the new device, it will be automatically shown invalid on the older device. To move the Authenticator account to the new or back previous device, users will have to follow the same steps again.

Another thing that users should keep in mind is that if they have already enabled the two-factor authentication on their Apple ID, then they don’t really need the Authenticator app. Users can get Apple ID verification codes on their iPhone device manually.

However, if anyone doesn’t have a computer to access Google 2-Step Verification, they can use the Authenticator app on their old Android or iOS device. In the mobile Authenticator app, generate a QR code for transferring the account. After opening the Authenticator application on the mobile device, press on the three dots over the top-right side of the application, and press the Export Account option.

Just after pressing the Export Account option, a display with a QR code will appear on the old device. So scan the QR code through the new iPhone device. Moving an Authenticator account using mobile is also easy, and some users might find this account convenient as well.

It’s unfortunate for those who don’t have their old account but want to move their Authenticator account to the new iPhone. But if there are backup codes available then users can recover their Authenticator account and can reset its security system to add it to the new device.

Conclusion

To keep the device safe, it is necessary to keep the two-factor authentication or Authenticator account enabled. Apple iPhone devices are safe with Apple ID, but to make the security more strict, users must enable the two-factor authentication. So without the proper information and verification code, no one can access the iPhone device even if someone flashes its software.
