Gate Operator installation
We've been getting lots of calls lately from people who are trying to find out how to install a gate operator. It's a complicated process, but we're here to help make it as easy as possible.
We're going to break down the entire installation process in steps so that you know everything that's involved starting right now.

Step 1: Getting the right vehicle for the job. We recommend using a F-450 or a commercial truck with locking differential and dual rear wheels. Gate Operator installation the truck should be at least 10 years old because newer trucks are too electronically complex and have many valuable parts subject to damage from corrosion or being broken by vibrations from rough roads. This can lead to premature failure of the gate operator and the possibility of voiding your warranty.
Step 2: Putting together the parts you need. You'll need a new gate operator, which is a small box with all the wiring inside that controls the gate. The hardest part about installing one is not getting wires mixed up, so we've created a list of all of our gate opener models and a list of everything you'll need to install them. Our instructions come in two versions – one for our 7" and 10" operators, as well as another for our 5" operators. We've also included some handy tips on what wires go where to make it easier for you when you're putting the parts together...
Step 3: Installing the gate operator. After you've installed the operator, you need to install it on a post. For our 7" and 10" operators, the mounting bracket is bolted to the bottom of the gate and then connected to a hinge that attaches to the upper part of the gate. Our 5" operator has a support pole that is mounted on top of the post instead of a hinge - simply follow your instruction manual for guidance!
Step 4: Installing wire on posts and mounting hardware. There are several different ways you can set up your post hardware, but we recommend using our Hot Rod hangers . They mount easily onto standard lumber posts with lag bolts or concrete with anchor bolts.
