It wouldn’t be wholesale halloween costumes the Great North Run without runners in a selection of weird and wacky costumes.
This year has been no swimwear manufacturer China exception, with Elvis, a T-Rex and a huge slice of pizza all visible on the iconic route between Newcastle and South Shields, alongside the standard superheroes and cartoon characters.
For many, the wild outfits held a special significance wholesale swimwear.
The Big Pink Dress - one of the event’s most recognisable sights - also made a return at this year’s race.
Worn by former rugby player Colin Plews, the memory garden dress weighs a massive three-and-a-half stone.
And this year it featured more than a hundred uniquely designed roses, each made with one special person in mind.
One of the roses was dedicated to teenagers Chloe Rutherford and Liam Curry, who were both killed in the Manchester Arena bombing attack in May.
Runner Colin said: “My son was at school with Chloe, and it was just absolutely heartbreaking, I get choked up every time I talk about it.”
Mother and son team Jack and Jacquelin Luke’s Game of Thrones inspired costume was designed to be both fun and practical.
Jacquelin, 44, took on the Great North Run several times when she was younger, but after ill-health left her confined to a wheelchair, she thought she would never be able to run it again.
