The Ender 3 is one of the most popular entry-level 3D printers on the market, revolutionizing low budget printing. Creality listened to the community with their second generation of this model and added various practical features/upgrades. For example, the XY axis belt tensioners and filament knob on the extruder are very useful for manual control of your prints.
Another useful upgrade is the filament runout sensor. This small device is placed just before the extruder so when your filament is running out, it will pause the print and tell you to replace it. This can save you from wasting your hard-earned money and time.
There is also a filament grip on the extruder that guides the filament to avoid skipping as it passes over a rotary wheel. This can help you with harder-to-print materials such as copper, bronze and brass. The grip is made of PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), the same material used in non-stick cooking pans by Tefal.
A big improvement to the user experience is a touchscreen. While this is not a necessity, it gives you a much better and clean interface that is easier to work with than the standard LCD screen.
Besides the improvements mentioned above, there are many more upgrades you can buy or make yourself for your Ender 3. For example, a simple self-printed filament holder helps prevent the filament from getting tangled in the Bowden tube while a tool holder for your spatula and side cutter is a great addition.
