In 1937, a Chinese martial artist returns to Shanghai to find his teacher dead and his school harassed by the Japanese.
Over twenty years since the first telling of the story, Bruce Lee's _Chinese Connection_ returns to the screen. The classic story has its roots in Chinese history -- the actual defeat of Master Huo at the hands of the Japanese. This time around, popular actor and martial arts champion Jet Li steps into the shoes of folk hero Chen Zhen, in a race to save his master's honor and his own pride.
Great action from the start and throughout the movie. Some scenes obviously sped up but the slo-mo shots show Jet Li's martial art expertise (i.e. flying double kicks, etc). Not for young 'white belts' because of the violence but great for the rest of us.
I just wanted to add my three-pennworth...

This movie appears to be a remake of the classic Bruce Lee movie called 'The Chines Connection' in the USA. Apart from being the 'natural' successor to Bruce, Jet Li has also paid Bruce the respect of lifting the international title of Bruce's movie en-masse. The movie was called 'Fist of Fury' both here in England as well as internationally and I believe the 'Chinese Connection' title was only used for the US release. I think that the movie called 'The Big Boss' - Bruce's first real release, was called 'Fist of Fury' in the USA hence the name change here.

Anyway, no need for me to review the movie in light of all the comments here except to say, that Jet Li truly is a great screen fighter and the choreography here is second to none. Wire work? Probably but then, who cares if the results are as good as they are here.
Like several other HongKong movies a extended cut was released in Taiwan only featuring approx. 4 minutes of prolonged story elements that are missing in the well-known version.
