About This Game

DEAD IN VINLAND is a survival/management game, mixed with RPG and adventure elements, about a Viking family trying their best to survive on a mysterious island.

Exiled on a faraway and unknown land, lead Eirik and his family on their quest to survive.
Manage their physical and mental health, explore the island, organize your camp and deal with other human beings. Some will help you, and some will be less... friendly.
Unveil the esoteric mysteries of Vinland. They could save your life… or lead you to your demise.

KEY FEATURES

• Deep survival management simulation : find and gather resources, secure a supply of food, take care of the mental and physical health of your characters, fight diseases and wounds, ration your water supplies, endure the elements (storm, drought, rain…).
  
  
  
• Challenging: the game is turn-based so you have time to take the best decisions, but the challenge is high! You’ll have to adapt to the crisis the game throws at you, with your own reasoning.
  
• 3 modes of difficulty: if you just want to enjoy the story, we added an easy mode and, for the crazy lunatics, we added both an extreme difficulty and iron man mode, that even the developers of the game can’t beat!
  
  
  
• Build your camp: expand your shelter with 18 activity stations, each one with its own mechanics. Craft more than 130 upgrades and dozens of items to give you precious bonuses. Choose well, you won’t be able to craft everything.
  
  
  
• Manage a community: 14 playable characters, each one with their own strengths, flaws and stories. Influence how their relationships evolve with meaningful dialog choices, achieve one of the 7 possible romances or kick annoying characters from your camp and recruit new ones. • Explore the island: 150 areas to discover with hundreds of objects to interact with. Unveil the many secrets of the island and its beautiful, hand-painted landscapes.
  
  
  
• Don’t just survive, settle: you can hunt, harvest, fish… but you can also grow a garden and breed sheep! Advanced camp stations with special mechanics.
  
• Live your own adventure: complete 70 non-linear quests to reach the end of the game. Depending on your choices, learn about what happened to your characters after the end.
  
  
  
  
• Animosity and tribute system : be “welcomed” by the infamous tyrant Björn Headcleaver and his merry band of robbers. Bend the knee and pay him weekly tributes, or rebel… and face the consequences.
  
• Full RPG system: 5 health states to care for, 20 skills to develop, more than 600 character traits, 100 items to collect, 30 diseases and 20 wounds to die from… Customize your characters: choose from 5 randomly generated special traits every time they level up.

Dead in Vinland is once of the best games I've played in a long time, and my first review in years,

It creates a dark and realistic viking setting, where your goal is to survive. The struggle is brutal and real, all while dealing with very intense social dynamics between your villagers.

You start with 4, and gather others (more options than what you can have, so every game and situation is different). You're forced to pay tribute and manage them all. I consider myself an excellent strategy gamer, but lost after 8 hours but was okay with it and excited to try again.

The struggle was real, quality artwork and rough decisions. Constant micromanagement to excel, with a satisfying conclusion.

Quality of Life tip I found out too late - Right click water or food, then give to villagers so you're not dragging it one at a tiem.

If you love viking settings and strategy, GET THIS GAME.. Well this one is going into my favourites category. I ended up buying the dlc's for full price because after about 5h of gameplay I realised that there was no way I was not going to finish this one on the first go.
I'm 50h in and I am about midway through the game.
IMHO this game is way more addictive and fun than its predecessor.
Once I finish this and pat myself on the back, I hope the 3rd one will be out already :)

Hello survivoooors! So, we’re getting really close to the release of Dead in Vinland (early 2018!). Hence, time to give you some news about the development, and we have an annoucement to make...

PATCH NOTES:

• Added 1 bonus Tinder item on skillcheck's success when harvesting them on the Tinder Tree.
  
• Corrected a very nasty and stealthy bug that prevented Eustache to trigger most of his dialogs! You should now be able to complete his romance.
  
• Achievement for reaching 100 in a skill corrected: Now triggered when 100 is reached via standard skill XP increase, use item increase and trait increase. It will also be given upon game load if a character has 100, in case it failed to be unlocked prior to that.
  
• Now Angelico's special chain of events will only trigger after meeting with a certain blue goddess, giving a little more respite in the beginning of the game.
  
• Corrected a lot of cases when Solveig/Knut would appear or be mentionned in dialogs even after their death.
  
• Mining camp 3 upgrade could be crafted without having unlocked Tier 2 upgrades.
  
• Corrected Angelico's relationship values bug: Values/effects behind the scenes were working as intended, only the display of "[someone]'s opinion on Angelico" was wrong (always 0).

. About the Characters - Secondary characters #2:


We’ll present today 3 other secondary characters that you’ll maybe find when exploring the island. Those three are known for having a natural charisma but are quite hard to figure out on first encounter. They could be very good allies if you understand their specificities & behaviours.

                                             

Eustache
The Black Monk

We'll start with Eustache, youngest son of a french noble family. The path to his father’s titles barred by his older brothers, his mother sent him to the benedictine monks.

He left the abbey after his father’s assassination, with only bitterness and vengeance in his pockets. He exiled himself to Spain to study fencing, and some say, black magic. He then enlisted at the service of the Count of Boulogne, to whom he demanded justice for his father.

But he faced the harsh truth of noble schemes and lost his trial, meaning all his land and titles, to the filthy Count.

He gutted him clean and well. Then he wrecked havoc on the northern seas as a pirate known as the Black Monk. His reign of terror lasted a good decade before he entered in a terrible fight with a viking longship, leaving him for dead on a drifting piece of wood. He wrecked on the island, more dead than alive.

                                             

Shanaw
Beothuk Huntress

Shanaw was the daughter of the chief of the Beothuk tribe, a small native village living on an island not far from the island of Dead In Vinland.

A free spirit, she was an excellent hunter and runner, and was known amongst her kin for very mischevious behavior. Her many wacky moments, like dancing and howling naked under the moonlight, earned her the nickname of “Crazy Moon”.

How did she end up on the island of Eirik and his family? And why? That’s a secret you will have to uncover, even if her shell may be hard to crack.

The only thing we know, is that she took the name of “Hidden Raven”. And that she doesn’t want to talk to Eirik. Weird.


                                            

Yaghoub
Persian Merchant

Yaghoub is an appealing Persian Merchant with a majestuous beard neatly combed and filled with precious jewels. He is always giving you big friendly smiles, always has an incredible story to tell. But despite these classic merchant features, he also shows an astonishing sense of sharing, and an infinite kindness.

Some may think he only works as a greedy merchant to be able to travel the world on his beloved ship. In fact, each time he manages to make a good profit, he instantly spend it all on a new, bigger, longer, riskier expedition, making him the poorest merchant there is. But when you see this spark in his eyes when he tells a – mostly invented – story, you understand that he carries his true wealth inside his heart.

A terrible storm made him wreck on the shores of the island of Vinland. He survived alongside a mysterious passenger…
