Heavyweight Darmani Rock (14-0-0 9 KOs) puts his undefeated record on the line against Mike Bissett on April 26th at The Met in Philly. The fight takes place on the Bouts on Broad 2 card presented by Hard Hitting Promotions.
Rock is an absolutely mountain of a man, standing at 6’5”. He’s also a heavy man, built more like an NFL lineman than a boxer. But the speed and footwork is surprising for a man that size. Rock can move and he can box. That coupled with his raw power make him a very dangerous man in the ring. His last bout at the first Bouts on Broad resulted in a knockout win over Steven Lyons.
Bissett is a solid but middling heavyweight with a ton of experience under his belt. His power is decent but he opens himself up a bit too much try to uncork on his opponents. Most of his work looks fairly average other than that.
I think Bissett is really going to struggle in this fight. If he tries to go toe to toe with Rock I think Rock will be quicker and more powerful. If he tries to bid his time, Rock will walk him down all night long. Boxing Prospects
I see Rock continuing his reign of terror over Philly heavyweights. His time at the top may be limited by the inevitable rise of Sonny Conto, but for the moment Rock is the best heavyweight in the city.
