As we get ready for the latest AL-NL showdown, let's take a look back at the best Red Sox moments in All-Star Game history:
6. Ramirez, Ortiz blast off in 2004
Starting and batting cleanup, Manny Ramirez homered off of Roger Clemens in the first inning as part of a six-run frame. Then, David Ortiz came up later and blasted one off Carl Pavano for good measure as the AL ran away with a 9-4 victory.
The win gave the AL home-field advantage for the World Series, and Ramirez and Ortiz reaped the benefits. The Red Sox, of course, broke their 86-year curse with a title.
5. Roger Clemens wins 1986 MVP
Going up against the likes of Tony Gwynn, Gary Carter and Mike Schmidt, Clemens started the game and threw three perfect innings in the AL's 3-2 victory. Clemens, making his first All-Star appearance, was named the winner and MVP.
4. Ted Williams has a day in 1946
Williams hit two home runs, including one on an eephus pitch from Rip Sewell, as the AL won the 1946 All-Star Game, 12-0, at Fenway Park. Williams had four hits, five RBI and four runs scored in a game in which eight Red Sox All-Stars appeared.
3. Teddy Ballgame walks off in 1941

2. Pedro shuts it down
Pedro Martinez' 1999 season was one for the ages, and his All-Star performance at Fenway Park was a major highlight.
The Red Sox ace electrified his home crowd and set an All-Star Game record with five strikeouts — fanning Barry Larkin, Larry Walker, Sammy Sosa, Mark McGwire and Jeff Bagwell — over the first two innings as the AL went on to win 4-1. Martinez won the game's MVP.
1. Williams gets honored in 1999
It's one of the most memorable moments in All-Star Game history. Prior to the 1999 Midsummer classic, the All-Century players were introduced, and Williams took a stroll around Fenway in one of the most iconic and emotional Devin Mesoraco Jersey scenes in the park's history.
Williams was introduced as "the greatest hitter who ever lived" and he waved his cap as he rode in a cart around the field. By the end of it, All-Stars from both teams surrounded him at the mound to pay their respects before he threw out the first pitch of the game.
Honorable mentions: Carl Yastrzemski went 4-for-6 with an RBI and was named the MVP in 1970. ... In 2008, J.D. Drew hit a two-run homer in the seventh inning to tie the game, 2-2. The AL, managed by Terry Francona, went on to win in 15 innings.
