About This Game

Your mission is to select a fleet of warships, arm them by selecting their weapons, assign captains and destroy the enemy fleet. You'll have complete control of this mission, all the way down to what angle and how much power should be put into each shot. Battle Fleet 2 is at your command, Admiral!

Battle Fleet 2 is the radically improved sequel to the original and has kept the “Worms” / “Scorched Earth” style angle+power mechanic, but now features full 3D modeling of terrain, ships, and ship hit locations. Hit the the engines and cripple the enemy's maneuverability, or aim for the command center and disable the ship for an entire turn. Ships are more realistic in which weapon compliments they can carry, and aiming/firing, as well as moving, is more intuitive. Battle Fleet 2 also now features Fog of War, allowing for stealth tactics and surprise attacks to be a viable strategy as well as adding the importance of using ships and aircraft for recon as well as attacks. With a full featured campaign and a variety of single play scenarios, Battle Fleet 2 will keep even the saltiest of sea-dogs satisfied.

Just finished sitting down with this game for the first time, that was 4 hours ago that I started. While some mechanics get a little tedious ( what game doesn't have that! ) The visuals and major mechanics of the game are outstanding! Highly recommend, if you are one of those people who go for the gameplay per $$ value this one has some great replayability to it!. Inferior version of Leviathan Warships. Buggy, little content, but worst of all — boring. The whole gameplay is just predicting how far your artillery will actually hit, and nothing else.. If you like turn based games, then this is one you should definitely get. I played it using the HTC Vive VR system and the detail and user interface is incredible. I spend the game standing waist deep in the ocean surrounded by my fleet and I can zoom all the way in to where I am standing next to the ship or zoom out as if I'm looking down from a high-altitude plane. This is the old Battleship board game (H9, I7, "...you sunk my battleship!...") on steroids. Instead of just point and shoot you have to gauge distance for each shot you take and have a mix of warships, including the aircraft carrier with fighter/bomber planes. I setup my attack and then stand next to the ship I'm attacking fully zoomed-in so I can see the hit. After enough hits, the ships start showing visible damage and flames / smoke / disabled guns or rudders, etc.

The game contains a Campaign mode, which I don't have the time to play but which looks fun, and customizable single and multiplayer games where you can select the map and ships and even the guns on each of your ships. The multiplayer is originally locked but I emailed the developer who replied within a day and who unlocked the multiplayer plus everything else in the game, per my request. This alone warrants a second look at the game if you haven't already bought it.

The only suggestions that I would have for this game are to have more visible damage (ie - visible damage after every hit) and land based attacks (ie - destroy ports or coastal forts/entrenchments with your fleet)

On a related note, I also read this developer is working on a land-based game, so it'll be interesting to see what's involved in that game whenever it is released.. Great game, enjoyed it from the very first moment. The unlocks are perfect for me and serve as an incentive to improve and keep going. The balance and pacing are just right and I find the ship movement and damage modelling to be very believable. This is the kind of battleship game that I have been looking for.

It is also great that achievements are not dependent on multiplayer, as I really dislike multiplayer. You can get all the achievements with singleplayer missions and campaign, which is FANTASTIC.

Multiplayer unlocks a handful of extra maps for quick missions, which are non-essential but add a bit of variety, so I might try it just for fun. But it is so nice to have multiplayer as an option, rather than a necessity - my thanks to the developers!

Note: Just finished the whole game in 79 hours and I had so much fun. By the time I finished all campaigns, there was only one achievement left (sink 50 carriers), and it wasn't too much of a grind to sink the remaining 10 or so carriers in quick missions. I thoroughly enjoyed this game and definitely got my money's worth.. Truly excellent game! Have been playing the Battle Fleet series since day one and each new version is so much better than the previous one. For all who like turned-based and real time strategy games, Battle Fleet is a must!
Thanks JJ!. Nice to play once in a while, quickly get bored if u consistantly playing it. Recommended to buy if it is on sales.. This game is so poorly made. I dont even want to play it.. Easy to learn, hard to master; that is how I describe this game. Play on hard mode and never use your fingers as a rangefinder. Good times.. Lovely little game of turn based battles and turn based campaign. No twitchy features at all are a huge boost in this game. What stands out about it is the 'worms-like' firing mechanic. Hitting and missing is about careful judgement of range, which definitely gets easier to judge as you play more.

There are some defnite downsides to this game, the main one being there is only one campaign to play, the pacific. Other things are the ship customisation doesn't seem to remember what you chose last time, though that may be an option somewhere I missed, and finally, that guns are a bit more powerful than perhaps they shoiuld be, and torps a bit weaker.

None of those things detract from the overall effect of a really nice, simple, cheap game, playable in half hour bursts.

Update 1.422 now live:
A small update with bug fixes has been released and added back in missing support for 32 bit windows users. This update also fixes issues with multiplayer challenges and using multiplayer in VR.. Troop Transports:
The Atlantic Campaign update will also include the new Troop Transports feature in the game. These transports will be required to take over certain territories. The development of the upcoming Atlantic Campaign update is going well and we now have most of the new territories created as well as a few new features. One of the new gameplay features in this update will be the addition of troop transports. This should bring a whole new dimension to the strategy of the campaign map as your fleet will need to have troop transports to conquer a new territory. Transports can be built in ports just like any other ship and will be playable ships in battles.



Not only are we getting new territories in the Atlantic (that will be available to multiplayer games as well) but the new territories will have much better looking islands and terrains. The original Pacific territories will also eventually be updated to match the look of the Atlantic but that wont' be included with this update.





The update should be ready by the end of the summer. Thanks your everyone's support!

This weekend the first Battle Fleet 2 multiplayer tournament will take place. On Sunday January 25th 2015 between 2PM PST (UTC-8) and 6PM PST (UTC-8) your scores from all online multiplayer battles will be added up and each player will be ranked based on the total Prestige Points they earn during this period.

The player with the highest total Prestige Points earned will receive their choice of either a $50 Steam Gift Card or $50 Apple iTunes Gift Card. The runner up 2nd place winner will receive their choice of a $20 Steam Gift Card or a $20 Apple iTunes Gift Card.
