Lawrence Guy has blossomed into one of the best defensive linemen in the NFL that many football fans might have not http://www.billsonlineofficial.com/shop-by-players-kyle-williams-je... heard of. However, for Sun Devil fans, the name certainly rings a bell, and his recent success at the next level has been something they can take pride in.
The 27-year-old has settled in to the league rather nicely, signing a shiny four-year, $20 million with the New England Patriots this offseason for proof.
Time at ASU
2008: 44 tackles (17 solo), 10 tackles for loss, two sacks, one fumble recovery returned for TD
2009: 37 tackles (20 solo), seven tackles http://www.cheappatriotssale.com/shop-by-players-cyrus-jones-jersey... for loss, 4.5 sacks, three QB hurries, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery
2010: 41 tackles (14 solo), six tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, two pass breakups
Guy was a two-year starter at ASU. He was named to “several” freshman All-America teams, according to Sun Devil Athletics, and garnered Honorable Mention All-Pac-10 honors in 2008. He was placed on the 2010 Lott Trophy Watch List — an award given to college football’s Defensive IMPACT (Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community, and Tenacity) Player of the Year.
Time in the Pros
2011: Green Bay Packers (drafted in seventh Mario Williams Kids Jersey round, 233rd overall pick): placed on injured reserve
2012: Indianapolis Colts: 18 tackles, one sack
2013: Indianapolis Colts (two games): 4 tackles, one pass deflection, one kick blocked
2013: San Diego Chargers (10 games): 16 tackles, three pass deflections, one kick blocked
2014: Baltimore Ravens: 16 tackles, one fumble recovery, one pass deflection
2015: Baltimore Ravens: 46 tackles, 4.5 sacks, one pass deflection, one kick blocked
2016: Baltimore Ravens: 28 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, one kick blocked
Guy is entering what could be considered the prime of his career, and joining forces with arguably the most-recognizable and well-run franchises in the league.
His progression from a member of Marcus Easley Youth Jersey Green Bay’s practice-squad and seventh-round selection, to waived player, to now multi-million dollar-earning starter has been especially impressive.
