The adidas NMD sneaker featured much of the same overall look and feel as the original which included a Primeknit upper, a sock-like ankle collar, and a Boost sole.This iteration is an acceptable substitute for someone that missed out on the highly popular NMD “Japan Pack” that featured a black upper atop a white boost sole.A full-length Boost midsole, leather heel patch and branded heel pull tabs completes the look.This is a mesh crafted NMD R2, meaning the conventional Primeknit has been switched out in favour of hard-wearing mesh. It makes for a more robust design that’s durable without losing the signature comfort of the NMD legacy.The reinforced synthetic upper material protects the mesh from tears, the substantial toe cap has a few scrapes but is in excellent shape overall, and the tread is only just starting to show early signs of wearing down.

Here we take a closer look at the adidas NMD R2 Boost Black – a silhouette yet to receive a confirmed release date.The main differences between the R1 and R2 are the removal of the inserts on the lateral side of the sneaker and the addition of an insert on the medial side. This “Triple Black” iteration comes with a Primeknit upper, a sock-like fit, and an all-black debossed Boost midsole. Conventional adidas NMD insignia is stamped to an embroidered tongue overlay and ‘Brand With The Three Stripes’ insignia sits on the heel pull.The net change is minimal and I’m not seeing any signs of wear on the webbing, but the top eyelet does provide an excellent seal around the top of the foot to keep out dirt and debris.
