About This Game

Urban myths about Abduction Bit:
Abduction Bit was originally released in 1982 but considerated too realistic (or inconvenient) for publishing it like an arcade game and so to bring it to the masses, this game reveals the truth about alien abduction.
Fortunately the SEEP team have found a prototype suite of arcade versions and are working on it.

Story:
Two aliens must catch many humans for some experiments in four stages: construction, hotel, military base and laboratory.
To catch the humans the aliens use a sci-fi gun that paralyses the target for a number of seconds, during which time they destroy their memory so they cannot remember the incident. Once the humans are caught they are shaved and stripped of their clothes
to be teleported to the UFO.

Gameplay:
Abduction Bit is a retro style game inspired by 80s arcade games like Bubble Bobble and Mario Bros, where players take control of an alien that must abduct the humans.
To complete a stage the players must capture all the humans without touching them and must avoid dangerous traps.
The player can jump on the platform and shoot - easy gameplay with high-level difficulty.

Level Packs system:
In Abduction Bit the player can select various level packs through the main menu. We'll release more packs in the future like FREE DLC.

It's a nice throwback to truly classic arcade style games. Simple, direct, but a good challenge. Love the feel, love the characters, decent level and trap variation. I'm happy with it. You should pick it up while it's on sale, because it's well worth the 49 cents and I paid 99 cents, so you can't go wrong either way if you're into classic arcade style games. It's along the lines of Donkey Kong and Burger Time.. Bought this on sale for 49 cents. (USD) I figure if I play it twice I've saved a penny on what I would have spent in an arcade in the 80's. So, win-win. And, since I will likely play it again, I'm leaning in the "recomend" direction. But, for two quarters, (4 when not on sale) you are getting a classic style arcade game. And, not a bad one. The levels are shorter and easier than, say, Donkey K. But there are more of them. Supposedly quite a few more. (I've seen 7 so far. That's almost double what the big monkey had.)

This having been said, there is a huge list of quibbles and things this game REALLY needs. [It doesn't auto recognise a joy pad, It REALLY needs a level builder. The level packs are hidden in a settings menu. Etc. Adn.]

So, overall... If I'd paid more than a dollar or two for this, I'd be unhappy. It will very likely get played once or twice more and be part of my library of cool little games I play on "rainy days." But, at the price I paid, I'm fine with that. I've already gotten my two quarters worth. Everything past this is a bonus level. 8). Fun distraction. I like this game because it has a very simple 80s platform style. It reminded me of an 80s platformer called Hunky Egg (which apparently was a rip off of Chunky Egg). It's basic gaming before games were simulations. It's certainly not near the best of it's genre. But it's fun and annoying with it's demands for precision in your jumps. Well gamers under 35 want to play such a game? I'm not sure. Actually I'm not sure how many over 35 would want to play such a game

One reviewer said it's buggy. It's more a case of every jump has to be perfect down to the milimetre while timing baddies perfectly, which is very frustrating. You die very easily in this game. I had to forget playing the game at any type of pace because of this if I wanted to progress. Like 80s games once you're out of lives you start again at the very beggining. Which is also annoying. Because I probably will never finish it.

But given it's cheap and cheerful why not give it a go?

TOP TIP - play 2 player to double your lives. You'll need it with the annoying easy deaths. A little game that will throw up feelings of nostalgia for the tiniest of prices.
Played it for 3 and a half hours straight. Loved every second.
