After a joint box opening with nemesis Anna and fighting her for a piece found in a church in Spain, Sydney must go on another mission in Morrocco to spy on an industrialist. However, a mingle with a bodyguard who injured her in the past aborts the mission, but she faces two heartbreaks: her colleague is killed by the said bodyguard, and back home her father cancels a dinner date with her. However, Michael finds a clue about Sydney's former fiancé and Francie discovers Charlie cheating on her...
Sydney and Dixon are sent on a dangerous case involving the safety of the United Commerce Organization. Francie gets suspicious about Charlie and spies on him. Meanwhile, Will continues to investigate the truth about Danny's murder.
Quieter than episodes surrounding it, A Broken Heart focuses deeper on the characters, with extra attention given to the ones not involved in SD-6 espionage. It's humanity that this episode is filled with, and I kinda liked it. In my previous review, I wrote how show should balance less between Sydney's two lives and they did it here. We got to see Syd's softer side and her interaction with her friends and it was funny. God knows that if it wasn't, Sydney would have drown in her sea of confusion.

But, in the between of heartwarming scenes, we get to see why we came in the first place. Over the time, Alias' missions become shorter and more dangerous. In the first scene there are Sydney and Anna trying to remember really long code (and this is where smartphones could find "themselves" useful) and then that code leads them to Spain where she encounters Anna once again.When she gets home, she stays there for five minutes and she is already sent to another mission that will turn into another one that will end episode with a cliffhanger. Confusing, right? Try to imagine how she felt during those, I don't know, two days?

Even though episode sounds like a complete mess with scenes just thrown together, they actually did a very good job. Something that Alias never made a mistake with is how to tell a story. Everybody in the show is beautiful but the lightning adds one more + to the grade. And that market shop in Morocco is stunning (you know, show kinda tend to advertise a lot of world locations) .

For the new fans, "A broken Heart" is probably gonna be better the second time around, you know, once you get to know the story better. All things aside, I was entertained throughout the duration of the episode so ten stars from me. The previous episode concluded with Sydney and her K-Directorate counterpart, Anna, opening the case containing the Rambaldi code; as this episode begins we see it is a binary code and it is going to be destroyed in seconds. The two women must remember it before it is lost forever. Sydney intends to give the correct code to Vaughn and give a fake one to SD-6 but Vaughn orders her to give then the correct code. The code gives the coordinates of a church in Spain; here Sydney must attempt to get something called the Golden Sun before Anna can get to it; of course Anna isn't far behind and they get into another fight. Not long after getting back she is sent on another mission to spy on an arms dealer in Morocco. This doesn't go according to plan as the man's body guard recognises Sydney and in the ensuing commotion a local agent is fatally shot. A man at the meeting is recognised as an explosives expert and he is linked to an Indian politician and peace campaigner who is due to give a talk in Brazil; clearly he is a target. Sydney and Dixon are dispatched to save him but things don't go to plan. Away from the main plot Francie persuades Sydney to help her spy on her boyfriend and learns he is indeed seeing another woman although when confronted he claims it is entirely innocent; Will is also continuing his investigation of Danny's death and appears to have made a breakthrough.

This was a decent episode with some really good action scenes and a very tense conclusion... extra tense if you are acrophobic! It was good to see Sydney fighting Anna again and the scenes in Morocco were both action packed and rather tragic. Unfortunately the Francie storyline distracted from the main plot although I admit I did chuckle at her surprise when Sydney knew 'spy stuff', Will's investigation wasn't particularly gripping but at least it could go somewhere interesting in due course.
