Over the past few years plumbing seems to have become increasingly expensive. This is mainly because people rely a lot on a plumber to take care of the majority of plumbing issues that they face when in fact many of the small issues can be fixed fairly easily. That said there are three issues that most homeowners can fix on their own without having to hire a plumber.
Fixing a leaking tap
Many people tend to put off fixing or replacing a leaking tap until it's too late after which they call in a plumber ASAP who charges them emergency fees. This can easily cost a home owner around $100 on average. The most common problem with leaking faucets is a worn out washer. The washer can easily be replaced by pulling out the handle of the faucet, then using a wrench to unscrew the spindle and remove the washer. The replacement hardly costs $5 and takes a total of 30 minutes max.
Fix a clogged pipe
The majority of times pipes in our homes are blocked owing to the buildup of hair, dirt and food residue. If you call a professional plumber to unclog your drain expect to pay around $40 for the job which only takes 10 minutes to finish. If it's a clogged sink drain that you're dealing with the easy fix is to remove the pipe by unscrewing it from underneath the sink and give it a thorough wash or replace it with a new one that costs around $10 at most.
A clogged bathroom flush can easily be fixed by pouring some acid down the drain
plombier bruxelles allowing it to sit for 24 hours. Then using a plunger and water the drain should be as good as new.
Not enough hot water
This is a common problem that many homeowners face and often end up spending around $300 on a specialized plumbing service to come in and fix the problem. The most common reason why you're not getting enough hot water is because of a buildup of minerals and residue at the bottom of the tank. This will require that you drain the tank.
In order to drain a hot water tank just turn off the gas, water and electricity. Then take a hose and connect it to the bottom of the tank which is marked "drain out" or "outlet", the other end of the pipe should go into a drain. Then simply open out the drain valve usually located nearby on most models and let the water run till dry. Then turn on the fresh water supply and continue to allow the water to run till the water running out the hose is clear. You can then turn everything back on again and your problem will be gone.
